About this episode

Heart of Home Workshop is run by Clare Barker and Yasmina Cowan. Heart of Home is all about at-home indoor photography. It’s a very specific niche if you ask me, but I love the way they see the home as an extension of ourselves. The thing that makes them such an interesting pair is that they run a business in separate corners of the globe. Their friendship blossomed online while apart. Even their business was started this way. The first time they saw each other was 20 minutes before their first workshop attendee a. Despite our challenges with technology and social media, it does have its moments, especially when it brings two people together who may not otherwise have crossed paths. I love it and hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did.

What you'll learn

  • How it’s possible to find a friend even if they’re living in opposites side of the world.
  • That one reason you could start a business is to help elevate an entire industry and making it better for everyone involved.
  • Chief best friends have a level of trust that never lets each other down.
  • How to build a lifelong community of people who can help you thrive in life and business.
  • Finding ways to properly scale your business through learning and iterating.
  • How to build boundaries that will help you be better at all areas of your life.
  • That it’s okay to love work while also loving your kids; it’s not a zero-sum game.
  • Knowing how to define success in your own terms.
I don't think there has to be any shame in loving your work. We want to set an example for our daughters, that just because you love your work, doesn't mean you love your children any less. Women are multi-faceted and that's okay.
